Asparagus with toasted sesame seeds is a quick and easy dish to bring together. Big tip is to toast the sesame seed’s as they will add much more flavour and a bit of crunch as well. You may notice that it calls for a fairly large amount of sesame seeds in the recipe, but give it a try and then decide whether to cut back, the next time you make it. But, if you love sesame seeds and asparagus then let the sunshine in and enjoy this recipe!
ASPARAGUS WITH TOASTED SESAME SEEDS

Serves 2-4
Ingredients
1/3 cup Sesame seeds, toasted
2 tbsp. sesame oil
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, smashed with skin on
Chili flakes, to taste
1 bunch of fresh asparagus, ends trimmed and cut into bite size pieces
Salt, to taste
Freshly cracked pepper, to taste
1 tbsp. Honey
Lemon juice or wedges, to taste
Method
1. In a dry frying pan on medium heat, add sesame seeds and toast until lightly browned and fragrant. About 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove to a bowl and set aside.
2. In a deep frying pan or wok on high heat, add sesame oil, butter, garlic and chili flakes. As the butter melts and oil starts to bubble, add asparagus and season with salt and freshly cracked pepper. Saute, mixing and tossing until the asparagus is cooked, about 4-5 minutes. Add sesame seeds and honey and continue to sauté, mixing and tossing until the sesame seeds have coated the asparagus pieces well. You can add lemon juice to taste at this point, or you can serve with lemon wedges. Enjoy!
